A NOTE TO ALL WHO DONATE TO THE THRIFT STORE:

We appreciate and thank you for the effort you all put forth to gather and deliver donations to the Thrift Stores at Henderson Settlement and White Oak. They help the people of this area to have quality merchandise at low cost, freeing up money to be used on other necessities.

Everyone needs to be aware that all thrift stores (even rummage sales) are now under the regulations of the Consumer Safety Act. This means we have to be diligent and careful in what we offer for sale or even give away. For example, toys and items that have been recalled we cannot sell. Dinnerware that is chipped has to be thrown away. Cookware, if the Teflon is severely scratched, is no longer considered safe. Plastic containers that have obviously been used and residue from cooking is present can no longer be sold. Wooden and plastic cutting boards with knife marks have to be discarded. Mattresses, sofas, recliners, etc. that are stained and cannot be satisfactorily cleaned cannot be accepted.
