History & Impact

Carrie Oval - founder of the Craft Shop in 1954 - was an ordained Methodist minister known as “A Jill Of All Trades.” It was her vision to have local people create hand-crafted items that could be sold to both Henderson Settlement visitors and churches across the country as a means to generate income for both community folks and students attending the Settlement’s high school.

Seventy years later the Craft Store is still delivering quality items hand-crafted by our local artisans and generating much-needed income for community families.

Treat yourself to our beautiful quilts, carvings, candles, pottery and jewelry. It’s a win-win!

Participate & Support

The best way to support our Craft Shop and local crafters is to open up that wallet and buy! You can visit the shop on campus or go to our online store.

No matter what your next special event is - browse our Craft Shop for the perfect gift! Not only will you find beautiful, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship you will also be supporting a local artisan.

Much like the old Tupperware and Pampered Chef parties we can also send craft items to you and your church or group for a hands-on, up close experience of the quality workmanship. All of our crafts are “Made In Frakes, KY” and the revenue generated stays in the local community.
