With the Thrift Store being one of our busiest programs throughout the year - it gets CRAZY busy at Christmas time! Toy donations ramp up, volunteer groups head down in Santa-Caravans, the donated toys are moved into the gymnasium and the sorting process kicks into high gear! After all the toys have been sorted by type and age groups the community is then invited in to start their Christmas shopping.
All toys are priced so that parents are able to buy a few nice gifts for their children. All money collected by the Thrift Store for these Christmas toys goes into the following year’s Christmas Toy Fund and is used to fill out that year’s donations as needed.
From that first celebration in 1925 until now Christmas has always been a special time in Frakes!
Participate & Support
Unlike the Thrift Store - which has a year-round impact on the community - this is a once-a-year event requiring advanced planning. Working backwards from Christmas Day (Christmas morning, buying/wrapping presents, sorting the toys, delivery of toys, collecting/buying toys, planning fund raisers/toy drive) shows that our faithful supporters put this on their calendar months before our community children open their presents. It’s incredible what our supporters do!!
Put this joyful activity on your fall calendar and get started! Schedule fundraisers to buy toys or set up a “toy drive” to collect toys. Then load up your cars, trucks & vans and head on down!
