History & Impact​

The community home build program has been building homes for families or individuals since 1993. In 2026 we will complete our 44th build. Recipients are selected through an application process and must own the property for a potential build. A committee from the board of directors at Henderson Settlement views all applications and determines the recipient each build year. 

Almost all recipients have been displaced due to a home burning or being in such poor condition that repairs are not a realistic option. To have a new home after being displaced or living in an unsafe structure is life changing.
