History & ImpactOne of the first things newcomers react to upon arrival is the beauty and tranquility of our Laurel Fork Valley. Words and pictures don’t really tell the full story - you just have to experience it. From Hiram Frakes’ first visit here in 1925 through the 100 years that have followed - people continue to fall in love with the hills, trees, wildlife, blue skies and solitude. Not to mention the friendly folks who live here!! This combination of beauty, quiet & security - coupled with our multi-purpose housing & lodging - makes for a perfect weekend get-away, church retreat, family reunion, youth conference or RV destination. From a coal train & mule ride in 1925 to the modern Hwy 190 - people continue to find their way into our little slice of paradise. |
Participate & Support Along with being a great place to host your next event - reservations for housing & lodging also support our community outreach efforts. Whether it’s allowing us to maintain staffing, do building upkeep or help a family with a winter utility bill - everything that comes into our budget is used to our community’s benefit. Booking a stay with us is definitely a win-win opportunity!! We are open year round! You can reserve single rooms, an entire house or even our dormitory (in non-peak months). All housing has kitchen facilities for meal preparation. For groups of 20+ people our kitchen can prepare tasty meals at a great price. WE’LL KEEP A LIGHT ON FOR YOU IN 2026! |
