Scholarships

Henderson Settlement Scholarship Program
The mission of Henderson Settlement is offering opportunities for better lives through Christ-centered service.  One of the ways we deliver on this mission is providing resources to community members, enabling them to pursue accredited academic and trade training to improve their knowledge and skill base.  This in turn improves their opportunity to seek employment and a self-sustaining life style.
Our vision for this program is that we build an endowment fund of sufficient size to enable us to support all qualified community applicants in a given year a significant financial contribution providing a portion of their program expenses.  We have created the endowment fund, and it is growing.  We have been awarding scholarships from this fund every year since its inception in 2009, while at the same time controlling the total of the annual awards at a level which enables the fund balance to increase.  At this point, the annual grants to individuals are small, but regardless they are a form of meaningful support and encouragement toward further education and training.
We do not, at this point, offer scholarship support for attainment of post graduate degrees.
Listed here are the requirements for applicants interested in applying for scholarship support:

  1. Henderson Settlement scholarships are only awarded for undergraduate work
  2. Residency in the Henderson Settlement service area for a minimum of one year

  4. A copy of their most recent transcript demonstrating a minimum 2.0 (C) average

  6. Completed initial application form to be received by July 3rd.  (See Henderson Settlement office for form.)
    1. A cover letter shall accompany the form, explaining the need for the scholarship and the applicant’s intended use of the training.

  7. An interview of the applicants may be requested
